Don't abuse, Educate!

"A mother will love her child no matter what" After all the news that I have been reading lately about mothers harming and even killing their children, I really wish this quote was true for all mothers. Every mother is different. All of our situations are not the same and personally I feel sorry for the ones who decide the ultimate fate of their children. I believe they should have sought help somewhere.

There are all kinds of resources and places to go if you are a mother or father and feel as though you are failing. If you as a parent and have thoughts of harming your children call 911 or emergency services. That's one step. Or if they are just thoughts and not actions call CPS and ask for guidance. I know not everyone has close family or friends but you must protect your children.

Your emotions are tied into your actions and when you act on those feelings of hatred towards yourself or others, well there are consequences. It seems the younger the parent the more easily the child is neglected or harmed in drugs or abuse and possibly death. It's very disturbing to see the youth of tomorrow not having the patience to care for their own children.

Taking a parenting class would be a great step if your already pregnant. These are free through local community services. Using adequate protection and birth control is another great step to stop from producing a child until you are more prepared.

Parenting is hard don't let anyone fool you to think that it's "easy as 1 2 3". Making sure that little person is safe, comfy and satisfied 100% of the time is a full time job. It's also not everyone's "Forte" either. And no the "motherly" doesn't come to every mother like everyone says it does.

Make sure you are mentally fulfilled in your life. As an adult we have so many things on our minds and in our lives that keep us occupied. If you have history of mental health issues make sure you stay connected with your doctor throughout your pregnancy and after the birth of your child.

Postpartum depression is a mass killer when it comes to mother and children. Once you have your baby you can check with your doctor about antidepressants and or any other ways to keep from being depressed if breastfeeding (shouldn't take antidepressants while breastfeeding it could pass through milk to the baby).

Keep yourself healthy even if your not pregnant. Eat well balanced meals and exercise regularly. In all cases keep in mind there is no shame in asking for help.
